MT. PINATUBO

Mount Pinatubo, Philippines A contemporary example of the extremely powerful eruptions and deposits in a plate context that is comparable to, but not identical to, that of Cwm Idwal is Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines. Part of the Luzon island arc chain, Mount Pinatubo is an active volcano situated in the Zambales Mountains on the northern island of Luzon. It is part of the complex intersection of micro-plates between the Philippine and Eurasian plates. It is a volcano associated with subduction, created by the Eurasian Plate sliding under the Philippine Mobile Belt to the west via the Manila Trench. Volcanism typical of subduction is produced when molten material connected to the complicated tectonics associated with the subducting slab rises through the lithosphere.
The first recorded volcanic activity at Mount Pinatubo is estimated to have started about 1.1 million years ago, although it ceased thousands of years before the second, more recent phase of activity began, beginning at 33,000 BC, following a protracted period of inactivity. There is a lengthy history of explosive and catastrophic eruptions at Mount Pinatubo. Even though it was a minor eruption in the contemporary eruptive history of Pinatubo, the most well-known one occurred in 1991. A notable aspect of the well-documented Pinatubo eruption of 1991 is the successful evacuation of 58,000 people, which was made possible by the joint efforts of USGS and Philippine geologists. stone). Over 5 km³ of material were ejected by the eruption in total.
Volcanism is the term used to describe a variety of processes and natural phenomena, such as volcanoes, geysers, and fumaroles, that are connected to the surficial release of molten rock, pyroclastic pieces, or hot water and steam. Even though volcanism is most well-known on Earth, evidence suggests that it also played a significant role in the formation of other natural satellites, including Earth's moon and Jupiter's moon Io, as well as the other terrestrial planets, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Volcanism can be seen in a variety of different geologic settings on Earth. The majority of these are connected to the margins of the massive, inflexible plates that comprise the lithosphere, namely the upper mantle and crust. Around 80% of all active terrestrial volcanoes and associated phenomena happen where two tectonic plates meet and one pushes the other aside, pushing it down into the

Along the axis of the oceanic ridge system, where the plates move apart on both sides of the ridge and magma wells up from the mantle to create new ocean floor along the trailing edges of both plates, is a second significant location of active volcanism. This volcanic activity almost entirely takes place underwater. Subaerial volcanism takes place in a few locations where the oceanic ridges rise sufficiently above the deep seafloor to emerge from the water. The most well-known example is Iceland. The composition of the magmas that erupt over oceanic ridges is basaltic. Within plates, comparatively few volcanoes are found far from the borders. Certain ones, like the volcanic islands of Hawaii located deep within the Pacific,

MT. PULAG

A Beginner's Guide to Mount Pulag Climbing

I prefer to try something new every year. I therefore made the decision to ascend Mt. Pulag, the gods' playground, rather than just any old peak. I wasn't sure, though, if my lackluster hiking experience would hold up. Though I had my reservations at first, I accepted the task. I'll describe my experience climbing Mount Pulag for the first time in this post.

It's important to remember that my experiences camping at Camp 2 are reflected in this post and may not be the same as those organized by tour companies. Since most package tours take place on weekends, you'll probably stay at one of Kabayan, Benguet's homestays.

This magnificent mountain boasts a sea of clouds, expansive grasslands, charming pine and mossy forests, and tranquil slopes covered in dwarf bamboo. The regulations for climbing Mount Pulag have undergone considerable changes in the past few years in response to worries about ecotourism brought on by the continuous flood of people.
